Tunisia: Tourism Receipts and Workers’ Remittances Hit TND 12.3 Billion as of October 20

Tourism receipts and cumulative workers’ remittances reached more than TND 12.3 billion by 20 October, according to data released by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Thursday.

Tourism receipts rose by almost 40%, from TND 4.4 billion in October 2022 to nearly TND 6.2 billion now.

Cumulative workers’ remittances also picked up by 4.3% to TND 6.1 billion.

This increase in tourism receipts and cumulative workers’ remittance has helped boost net foreign exchange reserves, which stood at TND 26.7 billion (119 days of imports) as of October 25, compared to TND 22.7 billion (104 days of imports) a year earlier.

External debt service increased by 21.8% to TND 8.2 billion.

According to the 2023 Amending Finance Law, external debt service is expected to reach TND 8.7 billion in 2023. Total debt service (domestic and foreign) is expected to exceed TND 20.8 billion in 2023.
