One person was killed while three others were injured in four explosions that affected two neighborhoods as well as the industrial district of the city of Es-Semara in southern Morocco, on Saturday night.
The explosions seriously injured two individuals who received initial medical care before being transported to the hospital in Laayoune.
One victim caught minor injuries and was able to return home after receiving first aid on-site, according to local authorities in the province of Es-Semara.
Local authorities, security services, and civil protection immediately arrived at the scene of the explosions, Morocco’s news agency MAP reported.
While the news agency did not provide any further information on the causes of the explosions, several local media outlets said that gas cylinders in the industrial site caused them.
Pictures also showed security services across the site of the incident, while social media users mentioned the presence of members of MINURSO, the peacekeeping mission deployed in the Western Sahara region in southern Morocco.
