December 7, 2023 at the Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation named after. V.Ya. Kikot held a scientific and practical conference on cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the CIS member states in combating illegal migration, the press service of the organization reports.
The event was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS member states, the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops, the Bureau for the Coordination of Combating Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime in territory of the CIS member states, the Coordination Council of Heads of Tax (Financial) Investigation Bodies of the CIS Member States, the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS Member States, the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Bureau International Organization for Migration in Moscow and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Russian Federation.
“Participation in the current conference, along with professionals from law enforcement agencies of the Commonwealth member states, representatives of CIS security agencies, the diplomatic corps, specialized international organizations and the scientific community indicates great attention to this issue,” noted CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev.
During the conference, the topics of consolidating efforts in combating illegal migration in the Commonwealth of Independent States were discussed, international approaches to migration management were considered, and the experience of combating illegal migration in the CIS countries was studied. During the discussions, special emphasis was placed on the fact that illegal migration is a serious threat to the security and sustainable development of both individual CIS member states and the Commonwealth as a whole.
Following the results of the forum, a joint statement was adopted.
