The development of cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany in the field of agriculture was discussed in Dushanbe.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, the head of the department, Kurbon Hakimzoda, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic, York Schugraf, held a meeting and discussed issues such as preventing climate change, adapting crops, preventing the melting of glaciers, etc.
Issues of improving pastures, exchange of experience between specialists, import of new technologies, and export of environmentally friendly products from Tajikistan were also discussed. The parties expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation.
According to statistics, trade turnover between the countries increased from $2.3 million in 2010 to $114 million in 2022. And according to the results of 10 months of 2023, trade turnover increased to $165 million.
According to experts, Germany’s experience in preventing climate change is important to the Tajik side.
Germany currently has a climate action plan until 2050, which includes environmental tax reform, climate-friendly investments, climate-neutral construction, digitalization and electrification of the transport sector, and the use of forests as carbon sinks. and others.
In 2022, Germany allocated a grant of 9.6 million euros to support local financial institutions in Tajikistan in expanding lending to agribusiness.
