Volvo Trucks Maroc Unveils New Medium, Heavy-Duty Electric Trucks

Rabat – Volvo Maroc has unveiled a new range of medium and heavy-duty electric trucks, the company announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, Volvo search Trucks says that it aims to reach 50% of global sales from new electric trucks in 2030, and 100% to be net-zero emission by 2040.

Complementing the medium-duty FL and FE electric range, launched in November 2022, Volvo search Trucks is now adding versions of its heavy electric trucks: the Volvo FH, Volvo FM, and Volvo FMX.

The new range “makes it even easier for transport companies to adopt electric vehicles in urban and regional areas,” the statement adds.

With a total of six electric truck models available in serial production as of this year, Volvo Trucks has the most complete electric lineup in the global truck industry, the company argues, explaining that its range covers everything from goods distribution and refuse handling, to urban construction transports and regional haulage.

These trucks can operate at a total weight of 44 tonnes and all have the option of full battery electric power. The tri-motor battery electric trucks utilize up to 6,540 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery packs to provide a working range of up to 300 kilometers at 44 tons depending on battery configuration.

Goran Travancic, Managing Director of Volvo Maroc, welcomed the launch of the new trucks.

“With these new, electric trucks we are making it easier than ever for even more customers to go electric, and for cities to shift to zero-emission vehicles for virtually all transport flows,” he said. “In this way, we are aligning with Morocco’s vision of supporting environmental sustainability.”

“More and more transport companies are realizing they need to start their electrification journey right now, both with the environment in mind and for competitive reasons to satisfy customer requirements for sustainable transport,” he added.

“With our wide and deep offering, it is totally feasible for far more transport companies to go electric,” he concluded.
