The acting Foreign Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Al-Taher Al-Baour, has revealed his government’s intention to appoint a non-resident Libyan ambassador to the State of Palestine. He noted that this appointment was scheduled to be announced during the visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Tripoli, but the visit was postponed.
Al-Baour has said that what is happening in the Gaza Strip shows the true face of the world that calls for freedom, justice, and respect for the principles of human rights, and shows how false those slogans are in light of the genocide to which the Palestinians are subjected.
In an interview with Palestine TV, Al-Baour stressed the necessity of forcing the occupying state to comply with international resolutions, which are always met with rejection, adding: “If we cannot implement UN resolutions, then everyone must review these laws and disavow them,” according to Palestinian Wafa News Agency.
Al-Baour pointed to an agreement between the Libyan and Palestinian Ministries of Labor to recruit labor, and to work on developing a mechanism to implement and activate this agreement, in addition to treating Palestinians residing in Libya similarly to Libyans in all fields, referring to the recent decision to exempt Palestinians from residency and visa fees.
Al-Baour indicated that the Libyan government joined the call submitted by South Africa against the occupation at the International Court of Justice, noting that Libya will be briefed on this issue next August.
