Egypt’s Red Crescent Delivers Third Convoy of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

“The Egyptian Red Crescent has delivered relief aid to the Gaza Strip to be delivered to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society as a third phase,” read the statement.

The ERC did not say how many trucks have been exactly delivered. However, according to Sky News Arabia, the third batch of aid included 20 trucks, bringing the total number of trucks delivered to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing to 55.

The first convoy of aid comprised 20 trucks and was delivered on Saturday, while the second contained 17 trucks and was delivered on Sunday.

According to the UN, at least 100 trucks daily are needed to meet essential needs in Gaza, where Israel has imposed a complete blockade as part of its declared war on the strip, leaving 2.3 Palestinians with no access to food, power, and fuel.

Israeli airstrikes over the past two weeks have killed more than 4,700 Palestinians, including 1,750 children, and displaced around 1.4 million inhabitants, which is around 60 percent of the Gazan population.

Over 1.6 million individuals in Gaza are in critical need of humanitarian aid, five UN agencies said in a statement on Saturday.
