Angola’s Inflation Rate Was 11.54% in February, Down 15.74 Points


The Angolan inflation rate recorded a decrease of 15.74 percentage points in February 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, settling at 11.54%, according to the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN).


According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the CPI for last month recorded a change of 0.86% from January to February 2023.


“Comparing the monthly variations (January to February 2023) there is an acceleration of 0.03 percentage points, while in year-on-year terms (February 2022 to February 2023) there is a deceleration in the current variation of 0.91 percentage points,” the document states.


The provinces that registered the lowest variation in prices were Bengo, with 0.61%, Lunda-Sul, with 0.71%, and Cuando Cubango, with 0.73%, while Zaire, with 1.13%, Namibe, with 1.06%, and Cunene, with 1.05%.


Health was the class that registered the highest price increase, with a variation of 1.88%, also highlighting price increases in Clothing and Footwear, with 1.86%, Miscellaneous Goods and Services, with 1.41%, and Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants, with 1.33%.
